Decisons to make

Posted 01-27-2009 at 11:37 AM by ArmyPoohFan317

I normally a pretty decisive person. But right now I am struggling. Some of the decisions I have to make a person could and probably should consider them to rather major decisions. I want to make the best decisions for my life, and to do so requires much thought.

I've been planning on moving to either DC or Raleigh, and lately it has seemed like Raleigh is the best idea for me. Which affects my SO, because he lives in DC.

But, yesterday I received a job offer here at the university I'm attending. I would be Grad. Assistant. The job would pay for me to get a 2nd Master's degree, an L.P.C (licensed practical counseling) and then to go onto my phD (counseling). That is very intriguing. I've wanted my phD since I was in junior high. And this way I'd be able to accomplish that goal before I turned 30!

There is just one hitch. I wouldn't have time (or due to health issues energy) to be a full time grad. student, full time G.A. and get another job. So I'd need the school to pay me as well as to pay tuition. And due to this economy they are considering NOT paying G.A.'s anymore (tuition would still be covered). So I have to figure out if my goal of a phD is worth the strain on my health, as I'd most likely have to get an outside job.

If I don't take the job offer (and it is a GREAT one. The prof I'd be working with is great and his niche is PTSD, which is very similar to my niche of CSD (combat stress disorder). If I don't take the job than I would continue to look for employment in Raleigh.

All this affects my relationship with my SO as well. Do we want to continue to have a distance relationship? I care about him, a LOT, but do we love each other enough to do the distance thing, and are we really a match, or is just that we have fun. There is more to making a serious relationship work than just having fun. So we have to figure that out as well. Are we meant for each other?

Decisions, decisions. I guess it is time that I go and pray about all this!
