Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Some Leftovers To Go With The Leftovers
Posted 04-03-2013 at 05:27 PM by case44
While many of you (and this writer, too) are still trying to shovel away all the leftovers from Easter, I just had a crazy thought about something that just happened in one of the vacation towns I recently visited. Just a few leftover thoughts from the tail end of a great road trip on U.S. Highway 281 in Texas. Maybe my timing's better this time. Funny how weather works in Texas, right? Well, stay with me on this one.
Two weeks ago last night (as of Tuesday the 2nd of April), I had lodged in Marble Falls, Texas, and had spent time trying to make sure that the storms for that area would spare me and my car from any hail damage. What a relief it was when the town only got a little bit of rain and a few rumbles of thunder, but up north about 20 miles in Burnet, some golf ball-sized hail had fallen during some thunderstorms there. It was definitely a relief, considering that, as I write this column, it was exactly one year ago that severe storms damaged my old Toyota Avalon while I was still at work, long since replaced by a slightly used Camry. Those moments saw me and all the people at work having to be sheltered from tornadic activity occurring outside, with a tornado literally touching down less than one mile from my office.
Fast forward to last night now. It was Tuesday the 2nd in Marble Falls. Another round of thunderstorms had swept through that area, but this time it was Marble Falls that got a big round of hail. Reportedly, it was quarter to golf ball in size. I caught the story on KTBC-TV's website out of Austin on my computer. Needless to say, I thank my stars I wasn't on vacation this week in Marble Falls.![Wink](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
You may resume your Easter leftovers now, as I'm going to go eat some cheesecake out of the fridge.....![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Needless to say, you should be relieved about not being there last week, especially after what you went through last year.
