Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Cousin Turns Fiddy Next Weekend
Posted 02-16-2013 at 08:28 AM by case44
They say a person's age is nothing to be ashamed of. As a matter of fact, it was actress Angie Dickinson who mentioned something of the sort in an article written about her years ago. A person's age is also nothing any of us can do anything about.
That said, I have a cousin that is going to be turning the big 5-0 next weekend. We'll have a few folks on hand at his house where his girlfriend will be hosting the grand event. I'm planning on going there myself. Hard to believe that this guy is hitting fiddy.
Just seemed like yesterday when he, my brother, and myself were having pillow fights in his teenage bedroom at his parents' old house many, many, many years ago. I think he would win every time. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
And, yes, we got away with it since there was commotion in the kitchen.
Next Saturday, however, will finally arrive. He's not the first cousin to morph into fifty years of age, but he won't be the last. And in a few more years, this writer will also turn fiddy. Keep the Geritol on back-order, please.
Like, way back.

Update: Party for cousin was a great success!
Lots of good food, and he got some pretty good gifts.
