1 Samuel 16:7 - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Romans 10:9 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. As the above Bible verses (and there are many others) tell us, God wants us to have him in our hearts and not just go through the motions with him. If we don't have God in our hearts first everything else we do for him is useless. This can be difficult when we have never seen him and are told that he lived among us over two thousand years ago. Christ said in John 20:29 - Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” - This is where faith comes in. Jesus knew there would be people who wouldn't see him but would believe his words, and he calls these people blessed. This can be thought of as the reason Christ's church exists all over the world. The church contains people who have obviously never seen Christ but still believe in him and accept him as their only Savior. We should all accept Christ as the our Savior because he is the only way we can be reconciled to God and have all our sins forgiven no matter what they are. Having him in our hearts permits us to do this. What About Jesus?
