Sleepless at Midnight

Posted 12-30-2012 at 12:21 AM by thgirlscientist

Sometimes our best ideas arrive around midnight, after we've been asleep for an hour or so - yikes! Either I get up and turn on the computer, or I eat all the leftovers in the fridge. Can't do THAT anymore for awhile.... need to lose the pudge I've accumulated over the last month or so! I'm actually new to blogging. I think a better term woud be rambling, but sometimes good things do come from rambling, so here goes. I think it's interesting that my dog, who was sleeping more soundly than me, is now in here in the dining room curled up in her bed beside me. I don't know when she realized I was no longer in bed. But, you know, dogs sense everything more eloquently than we do. Not so with cats. My orange tabby was up wandering when I left the bed for the kitchen, but who knows where she went. She likes to nibble at night and she'll probably wake me up sometime during the wee hours to let me know her kibbles are all gone. Guess I'll check their "level" before I hit the hay in a few minutes. I'm wondering if I'll even remember that I was blogging when I wake up tomorrow! It's been a great holiday, but the extreme cold didn't add to the beauty of the season. No snow! Nary a flake! And we need moisture here in the desert so badly! But like I said, Christmas was lovely and I feel so lucky to have had such a nice one: heard from all my children, partied or lunched with some friends and didn't do a bit of housecleaning! Holidays are definitely just for lazing around and enjoying the benefits of being retired! I hope all my blogging buddies are as lucky as I am. Happy New Year to each and every one of you! From me, my dog and my cat .... WELCOME 2013!

That's a great first blog, Sleepless.

I came out to leave you a visitor msg thanks for your nice comment to my blog, and saw you also had a blog. I am glad to find you here.

Since you are new to C-D, you should join us in the Other Topics forum threads. All of the posters there are very nice people, and love to see new faces. My favorites are the Something to Say, Anything and the What Book are You Reading? threads.

As a freelance writer, I am sure you know the best practice is frequent practice, so come and post often.

Thanks for the nice comment, LFM! I will indeed look for blogs with comment pertinent to my plight: I am strongly considering moving (back) to Texas. I like small towns and grew up in one in the Panhandle. That town has shrunk to practically nothing by now, so I'll find a nice little town of 15 to 20 thousand. I don't feel the need to be near a big city ... like to do simple things like sightseeing, finding unique little restaurants and meeting other people who are near retirement, for good food and interesting conversation. I'm spending this first couple of weeks of the new year just getting used to the fact it is really 2013 - unbelievable, isn't it! Our weather here in Albuquerque has been extremely /unseasonably cold. I'm looking forward to more temperate weather in the middle secton of Texas. I won't make any decisions until I visit the state sometime around mid-April.
I hope everyone is experiencing a positive beginning for the new year!
