Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

A Texas Christmas ---- Well, Sort Of

Posted 12-25-2012 at 10:10 AM by case44

Before I get to today's chickenscratch du jour, I want to take time to wish everyone here a very safe and prosperous Christmas season and an equally prosperous New Year!

I wasn't expecting to get off of work so soon, but soon it shall be on what is not just another Tuesday in Realville. This writer got off at 10:15. There just wasn't a lot going on at work today, so I was the only one who volunteered to be cut from work early. Somebody had to do it, but, dangit, I'm going to make up for it tomorrow and Thursday by pushing some OT. For now, I'm agonizing over whether or not to go visit my uncle and his immediate family through the rain in Texas and the flu in their household. What my uncle and aunt have had in the last week is something that any flu vaccine cannot withstand. I'll keep you posted on my decision. I was with my mother last night and our food and visit were good, along with a few presents. So, today is one day I look forward to all year long because I get to visit with some cousins and second cousins, many of which I only get to see once or twice a year. Hey, I want to go and do this, but yours truly doesn't want to get sick, either.

And, I'm telling you, if you don't like extended family get-togethers, well, you just don't like chit-chatting with members of the opposite sex. Enjoy your holiday. I'll be back with a whole lot more real soon.

So, Case, did you escape that dreaded flu bug?
