Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Got To Get Back --- For A Rib And A Dinosaur Track

Posted 12-13-2012 at 04:21 PM by case44

Still thinking about it, and I can't get my mind off of it. Got to get back to Glen Rose. I've gone way too long without going (I think it's been almost a year), so I've decided that on Saturday, I'm going to get in my Toyota and venture off to that wonderful land of escape. Old-time bed-and-breakfasts next to a river. Barbecue at Hammond's. Front porch sitting. Got to get back.

Glen Rose, Texas. The sun's expected to shine. The town square is as quaint as can be, with the town's water tower hovering overhead on top of a crest which serves as its northern backdrop. I wish you'd see its topography. It'd blow your socks off. Oh, you can cheat and go to Wiki and take one look at a small pic, but it's not quite the same as being there. The hills sway north to south, but watch out for that hill drop from U.S. Highway 67 downward to the town square off of State Highway 144 and FM Road 205. About the only thing I won't get to do is stay very long. Well, that, and a visit to Los Primos Mexican Restaurant. My face will already be stuffed with great barbecue, so there just won't be room for some fine Tex-Mex from some fine-looking women.

Small-town America is still alive and well. Got to get back and take a deep breath and forget about city life for about four hours. Why not? It's worth another glance at a dinosaur track.

You've talked me into going there. If I can find any time to travel, I ought to check that place out.
