Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

The Texans In The Super Bowl? Don't Count Them Out
Posted 11-12-2012 at 04:15 PM by case44
If I didn't have to go to work an hour early this morning, I'd have stayed up to watch a nice battle of two NFL defenses going after it. And to think that, just two years ago, the Houston Texans hardly had much defense, despite having a roster full of talent.
They've added and subtracted players since then, but they've also brought in Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator a couple of years ago, and what a difference he's made for them. Houston now has the number 3 defense in the entire NFL, and they just took out Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears on NBC-TV a short while ago. If that game at Soldier Field wasn't a statement for the Texans, I don't know what was. Now, many folks have specific questions that come to mind due to the fact that we've just started the second half of the regular season. Questions like......
Super Bowl? I would not count that idea out. Oh, you've got Da Bears, the Atlanta Falcons, and the New England Patriots going for the marbles, too, and they'll all be there come playoff time, but you have to factor in the Texans. You always think about a Matt Schaub pass to Andre Johnson or an Arian Foster touchdown run. But it's Houston's defense that is opening a lot of eyes. And you've just got to have some fun when J J Watt is one of the guys who goes after your quarterback when trying to find his receiver. I can safely say it: Don't count out the Texans when we get to the playoffs. They are now on top of their game and will be good for a few more years.

If ever there were a statement game for Gary Kubiak's Texans, Sunday night's affair took the cake.

They most definitely have a chance at, at least, the AFC Title game. Last Sunday showed what a great defense they do have.

And they'll need to win a Super Bowl just to convince CBS officials that they're more important than the Cowboys are now. And the Cowboys may not even go to the Super Bowl (again) this year. The reason I say that is that CBS is making their affiliates play a rare Cowboys game (they're playing an AFC opponent; that's why) instead of Houston-Jacksonville, on at the same time, in Austin, San Antonio, and most of Texas.

Bring on New England!Posted 12-02-2012 at 03:57 PM by case44 -
They have now beaten Indy, Case. Can't believe they are 12-2 and Minnesota at home next week. J J Watt is just terrorizing the league's quarterbacks and I saw him do a number on Luck this past Sunday. If your Texans do go to the Super Bowl and play as good of a defense as you did Sunday, you guys are going to be murder for your opponents the next few years.
