If you want a good read, pick up "Death Spiral" by James Boedecker. You will not be disappointed if you like a good action novel.
This book is a non-stop read from start to finish. The writing is fluid with a steady pace and keeps the intrigue going. Besides being a great story, what makes it a good read is that there are no dips into detail (those detailed descriptions that you forget 2 pages later). The writing is straight forward, and Robert's sarcastic, dry sense of humor throughout was a great plus. There are laugh out loud moments.
This is the journey of Robert O'Leary who from the day he was born life threw him two curves, first, being born with a cleft palate and second, being born to abusive, neglectful parents. His cleft palate left him being a target to be bullied, until he was old enough and decided he wasn't going to be anyone's victim, rough years during his teens, ultimately ending up in the Navy and becoming a SEAL. He knows what it is like to be the underdog and being a victim in more ways than one. Although a hardened individual, he has a big heart that he could control.
Not happy with himself, being booted out of the SEALs because he thought justice outweighed an order, feeling used and discarded he ends up in Thailand. Robert's growing relationship with Mina, a Thai girl who was a victim of cruel individual and left scarred, takes you into the dark side of Thailand, where Robert seeks justice for Mina, who has captured his heart in more ways than one. What started out as getting the one person responsible for scarring Mina, grew to a bigger mission with the help of 2 ex-military expats, and others, setting out to get the Germans and Romanians responsible for the cruelty and injustice they served up to their victims. And Robert stays true to himself.
The cast of characters in the book are unforgettable. If Book II is anything like Book I, it will be another winner for Boedecker. If Boedecker keeps churning out novels at this level, he deserves recognition for his work and placed right up there with the authors that we look forward to reading their next novel.

Phony Navy SEAL of the WEEK: James “Jim” Boedeker the Death Spiral Dude
May be a good read, but the guy is a lair. He claims to be a decorated Navy Seal who had participated in Numerous 'Black Ops' missions (Can you say Stolen Valor?!?)
