Change...6 letters that mean so much and make such a big difference in our lives. 6 small letters, one big, scary idea.
Change can be good and it can be bad. Right now America has experienced some change. President Obama is officially our President and he seems to be vastly different from President Bush. Many people think that this change is a good one, while others dread the change that has come to D.C. Only time will show us whether it was a good or bad change.
We all go through personal changes as well. I'm working on that right now. I'll be graduating from seminary/grad school in a few short months and will need a job, an apartment and soon I'll also need a new car to replace my 1991 vehicle that I have and love.
That is a lot of changes. I'm scared and excited, but mostly I think that I am excited. Change in this case is good because it means I will get to move and be near friends and family. I will get to be doing what I love to do, and what I think God has called me to do with my life.
I will be living where I want to live and I have the opportunity to make new friends and have a whole slew of new experiences. Some of them will be great, but not all of them. I will have some bad experiences as well. Life is full of ups and downs. I think the best way to handle them is to make the most of the ups, so that when we are down we can focus on the good times and pull ourselves back up.
God will never put us through more than we can handle. That is scary and exciting. Scary because God knows that we can handle more than we think we can, just read the story of Job. Exciting because God teaches us the most in those dark times and we really see the providence of God.
