Moving to Great Lakes Naval area, reviews on different areas

Moving to Great Lakes in January 2013 for the military and even though I am from Illinois's southwest suburbs, I have no clue about the far North ones. I have 3 children ages 3, 1 1/2, and 3 months. So I would like good/safe area and good schools. Please let me know about Waukegan, North Chicago, Grayslakes, Highland Park, Fort Sheridan, Etc. thank you!!
