Never a Boring Moment!

Posted 08-27-2012 at 05:45 PM by LookinForMayberry

To the woman that once told me she couldn't stand being a housewife because it would bore her: HA! Try it. I DARE you!

It isn't my chosen profession. I would rather be working -- I think, but until I find a job this is definitely NOT boring. I don't have TIME to get bored.

The day starts about the same time as my office job did: 7:30 am, but I don't have to dress up. In fact, I dress down. One doesn't take Bigun the wonder dog out for his 3+ mile morning walk and ball chasing in nice clothes. (Though now after five months of it I could use a new pair of walking shoes.)

Today was a bit more interesting than normal, because somewhere along the way I lost my house key. Thankfully a neighbor let me use her phone to call DH and ask him to come to my rescue. I wasn't planning on working in the yard today, but since I was locked out and my tools were handy -- I went ahead and moved the three lavender plants to their new holes, dug for me on Saturday by a hired laborer. (He's due back on Thursday to assist in more relocations, and to spread mulch.)

Once I did get back into the house, I continued with the bedding laundering that I started before we left, and then cooked up a pot of veggie stew into a nice rich beef broth I prepared yesterday. I'd hoped to finish that task before the day warmed up, but since I was working in the yard I got to cook over a hot stove with the fan blaring full blast. While I was at it, I cooked a pot of brown rice. When DH comes home (late, thanks to me) he'll have his choice of meals to choose from already to pop into the microwave.

I wanted to correct the tension problem on my sewing machine and that did get done, thank you God for not insisting that I take it into the shop. Soon I can start quilting the pieces I sewed together from strips, and then I can start cutting up that old corduroy jumper and finish the tote bag I've been planning. I've been trying to get to the sewing for the past two weeks, but things seem to keep popping up and then I am so tired I don't have a creative ounce left to me.

In fact, I am rapidly approaching that point, now. I guess before I actually reach it I should close here and go sit at the machine. It's a very nice machine, but it doesn't sew by itself.

Wherever that woman is today, I hope her day at the office was as fulfilling as mine.
