Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

New Windshields Are All They're Cracked Up To Be

Posted 08-25-2012 at 06:42 AM by case44

The mystery occurred while I was at work on a recent Monday afternoon. When I finished lunch that day to go out to my car to put something in it, I left it with my side windows cracked open for air. After all, it is Texas and temperatures do get real hot out there on that thar parking lot.

So what happens when I leave work? I find a foot-long crack from the lower left siding going diagonally to just in front of the driver's view. It wasn't there earlier. Not good. But what caused it? Outside of some possible debris kicked up from one of the lawn mowers, well, nothing else. Fast forward to yesterday, where your favorite blogger got a trusted guy out to the Case abode to put a brand-new windshield in while I was listening to Rush Limbaugh on my boom box and doing my Friday thing on City-Data. Got a new windshield. Nice. And badly needed. Oh, it cost all of $190, but that's the way it goes when you're trying to keep your credit card under control. Funny thing is, when that crack happened, I was just getting my credit card "situation" caught up (Please don't ask me about it. Thanks...). Unexpected expense. Can't stand that.

My still-a-little-bit new vehicle has a new windshield. Let's just hope this one will last without blemish for a lot longer than the last one.

Don't you just hate when something like that happens and you don't know how it got there? Those things are irritating. Glad you got a new windshield and that everything is fine now.

Just be glad it wasn't your tires.....(you know)......
