The 60s, suburbia and "morals"

Posted 08-16-2012 at 03:09 PM by the city

I'm from the 90s era, but I sure love the old family days of the 60s and all those things you people did back then. Now suburbia is a little different, but somethings haven't changed:

Tract homes (started in the 60s) where soldiers wanted to move and start families. Not to mention families wanting to come CA because they liked the beach.

In those days when....

took your kids for ice cream (in more modern years it includes frozen yogurt)
took your kids bowling
took your kids to the movie theater
took your kids to the beach
took your kids to the skating rink
took your kids to the mall for clothes
took your kids to Sunday morning church
Your mom shopped at the local market
Your mom took you to school
Your mom cooked meals
Greeted neighbors
Kids played outside
You wrote notes in class
In the 80s you went to video arcades

Now a days, kid are playing video games and talking on phones and listening to ipods. The lack of communication has gone down. Some kids completely miss out on the outdoor and good social skills.

Back then, homosexuality was rare. And even in West LA saying same sex marriage was legal was crazy talk.

Back then, gas was cheap and having a home and car was good. Now a days, people see those two things as environmentally bad.

Back then, serving the military was a great honor. Now a days, it's just another job.

Back then, America was one of the greatest nations. Now there is China.

Back then, gangsters and illegal immigration wasn't a big deal.

Back then, pot was the big drug. Now we have drugs that turn people into zombies.

Back then, girls saw legs as skimpy. Now a days girls see showing boobs and almost of your legs as skimpy.

Back then, abortion was bad. Now a days it goes against your freedom.

And those rebellious college kids, well how did they get to be in charge? Less civil rights is the only negative I see back then.

    drastic changes

Let me tell you the most profound changes from the sixties and seventies. At that time even a single person making 3 or four dollars per hour could afford a reasonable place to live, some kind of car, have gas and food money with a little left over. If you made as much as five or six you could afford to buy a small home and pay it off in 8 to twleve years. Also, before the detestable nixon, there was low cost no profit insurance for critical services. This ment that any one who worked and even if they made very little could afford insurance and go to the doctor, dentist..ect. Now, even at 20 dollars per hour it is near immposible to pay off a house..(if you can even get one) in your entire life! You are always ine debt now besides a morgage you may owe. You also could fully expect to work in one spot if you so chose for 3o or more years and get a retirement. Today if you even get one you may be screwed out of it by the corporate felons anf political criminals in America. Wall street and millitary industrialists working hand in felonious hand with government criminal elements will never be happy until all prosperity is drained away in their insane power mad loathsome grab for more and more. America has already failed and it will never get better. At least i lived most of my life doing what I wished living a good life before ...THIS!!!
