Does it snow in Redding, CA?

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked this question, in fact just today someone from the Bay Area asked (which is what prompted this post)! And I can see why...people think since we're located just a couple of hours South of Oregon that we get snow.

Well...we do...somewhat...just a little...like every 3-5 years. Wait...I'm not saying it never snows, I'm talking snow snow, heavy, white, stick on the ground snow! That doesn't happen every year in Redding. We may get a little dust here and there in January or even February but it melts within a few hours.

So the short answer is yes and no. But the real answer is "not really"! Redding gets true snow every once in a blue moon. Personally, I love that. We have the four seasons here, except most of it (252 days roughly) is sunny days. Mild and quick springs, mild and quick winters and autumns but lots of hot days in July and August, oh yeah...like triple digit hot! Like don't leave your expensive lipstick in the car hot!

Want to get away from the snow? Come to Redding. If you can't handle not having snow, be happy Mt. Shasta is just an hour North of Redding!
