Good places to live in Redding Ca (Mary Lake Neighborhood)

Posted 08-04-2012 at 11:10 PM by ShastaLiving

Because of what I do for a living, I'm often asked what are my favorite neighborhoods here in Redding CA. That's a tough one! I say that because there's not "a" favorite, I have several that I really like.

Looking towards West Redding, I really like Mary Lake, it's an older, well established neighborhood of older and newer homes but very clean and well maintaned. Lots of character in this community.

There's a small lake (well...more like a pond) surrounded by walking trails. Depending on the time of year, that lake can look beautiful and green (early Spring) or dry and brown (all summer)! But I do like that it's somewhat hilly so there's some great mountain views, it's also really close to Top's Market, a locally-owned grocery story. Starbucks is also nearby and the well known Moonstone Bistro, a great place for lunch or dinner.

This is the kind of neighborhood where you can take your dogs out for a walk in the afternoon, or go out for a morning jog. Neighbors are friendly and they seem to really enjoy living in this community. I often make a stop to buy a basket of fresh strawberries and oranges at the corner of Buenaventura and Lakeside.

Another reason why I really like this neighborhood is because of its proximity to the loca's favorite lake, Whiskeytown Lake. Such a beautiful lake, it deserves it's own blog post!

I'll write about some of my other favorite Redding neighborhoods in future blog posts!
