Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Rain In Hot Weather: If Only You Had Smell-A-Vision
Posted 07-20-2012 at 08:17 PM by case44
There is a saying in Texas where if you don't like the weather, then wait a few minutes. And summer in Texas usually lends itself to only one thing: hot heat. Occasionally, though, you might encounter an event like the one I experienced.
This had to have been a last-minute forecast change, since no rain had even been predicted for my area outside of a wafer-thin chance. Clouds darkened up over the 102-degree parking lot at my apartment complex when the skies actually opened up. That's right, sports fans.
Rain. And it was a-comin' down.
Imagine the sudden coolness (granted, about 85 to 90 degrees, but compared to 102, well....) when there was rain falling in place of hot sunshine which once occupied the real estate. Now pretend you are out there, out among the showers while standing barely under some semblance of cover. Can you smell it? You haven't lived until you have.
If only I had taped this event for all to see. You should have smell-a-vision. If it isn't on your conventional TV, you can try to employ same on your computer.
Nature at its finest, if you ask me. And all to my heart's content, even for just a few brief moments. Better enjoy it, Case, I thought, because tomorrow's high temperature is expected to be, ...........oh, ................. around 105. Muy caliente en Tejas del Norte.
Besides, who doesn't like smelling rain? Or bacon, for that matter. Two things you have to smell in your life: Rain and bacon.
Yes, I've written about smelling falling rain before, but I don't care. It's worth mentioning again, and it's such an incredible force of nature. Feel nature. Touch nature. God made things that none of us humans could even conceive. So why not appreciate those things?
Especially in a July heat wave.
