Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Will This Be Another Record-Breaking Summer Heat In Texas?

Posted 06-25-2012 at 09:42 AM by case44

That's the question many people in my state are asking when temperatures get to 100 degrees. It's nearly the end of June, and the parking lot will soon be ripe enough for the cracking of eggs for which we can fry. You can bring your own spatula.

As far as this writer is concerned, 100 degrees in June is pretty much par for the course no matter what part of the state I'm in. It's still Texas, it's still hot, and it's still summer (even though it only became summer last week on the calendar). I'd go towards the cool pool at the apartment complex just to soak everything in. If nothing else, such is the idea of many. Some people don't like the heat, and I admittedly don't get out in it too much compared to what I used to do. Two key words still matter in the minds of Texans: air conditioning.

Aaaaahhhhhhhh!

Back to the question at hand. Will it be another record-breaking summer this year? I don't think so this time, but we'll sure still have our fair share of hundred-degree highs. To me, it'll just be another routine summer, but it also means more people will be out on their bikes, jogging, or walking. Walking trails, by the way, are great things. More people will be out at the cool pool. More drivers with convertible rooves will have them open when on the road. And, of course, all the ladies out there will be wearing their tights and showing off those great curves! (Sorry, just couldn't resist!)

Can you say "Cannonball!!!!"?

You aren't kidding about the eggs on the sidewalk, Case.

Before you cannonball into the pool, may I have a tub of ice cubes to throw in?
