Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

America: Love It Or Leave It

Posted 06-25-2012 at 09:24 AM by case44

As a citizen of these great United States, you can have so much to brag about in a country that is livable, successful, and free. In just another week or so, we will be celebrating the birthday of this magnificent land as we take time out from our busy lifestyles and schedules to observe the 4th of July. For many Americans, it's one of the highlights of any year when one gathers to view fireworks displays or attend a patriotic 4th of July parade.

These are but only a few of the things that make our country great. I, for one, am truly blessed to be a citizen in a nation that is exceptional, far superior to any country in the world. It is built on principles not practiced very well in other nations. Our founding fathers saw to it (as they came to this place to escape non-free, oppressive laws in where they came from) that this country would be different. America was founded as a free country, with personal freedom for you and me, and with rights and choices in various aspects of our lives. A free country, folks. There is the United States Constitution (containing therein the first ten amendments which deal with our personal rights and freedoms; the Bill of Rights), which is put in place to limit government while setting a reasonable course of law for our land. Since 1791, we here in America appreciate the greatness of the most supreme government document this world will never know.

Well, unfortunately, not all of us.

You have two groups of people in America: (1) Those who love our great land and desire to preserve it, and (2) those who don't share that same desire and passion and, therefore, want to destroy it. Question here: How in this cornbread world could anybody not appreciate freedom without oppression or tyranny? In 2012, we are living in the most turbulent and divisive time in American history. You thought 1968 was special? Nope. It's now. The United States has become the Divided States of America because politics have gotten much more fierce in recent years. And out of hand. You've heard all the subjects, most notably, the economic downturn of the last few years, so I don't need to repeat in this space the things you've been hearing. I'll save all the solution talk for another post, but I can tell you that this upcoming presidential election is really about two things: Jobs and freedom. Both are unquestionably at stake here. That's what makes this the most important and crucial election of our lifetimes.

Conservative citizens share the beliefs of our founding fathers, mixing faith, family, hard work, truth, and integrity as part of our value system. Many conservatives (not all of them) profess a belief in God and are committed to regular church attendance. This group is mostly committed to strong families (while they are not perfect) as part of the foundation for everyday living. They also believe in the idea that working will earn you a good living. Americans have been fortunate enough to embrace a strong free market system for as long as this land has existed. It's true that if one doesn't work, then one doesn't eat. Conservatives believe in achieving their successes by following their dreams, where, if they work at their goals and follow them through, they can achieve them. Part of the way of life for this group also includes fiscal and financial responsibility and implementing it carefully. They also love this country. They salute the flag with pride and dignity. Some of them have had to put on a military uniform and fight for our country's protection and freedom, many times to go to battle against our nation's enemies. They occasionally make mistakes, but they admit when they are wrong. Truth, justice, and the American way? Yes, indeed. And I have no problem telling you that I am part of this group of people, and with no shame. I'm proud to be an American.

That said, here, now, is the other group of people. It is the group that chooses to side with the liberal point of view. Basically, it is a camp that goes the opposite of conservatives. Those people on the left are the ones who do not embrace free market capitalism nor do they believe in personal success. Their political ideology is based more on emotion than on reality. Fiscal responsibility with this crowd? Nope. They'd rather spend and throw away money where it shouldn't be instead of where it's needed. Leftists (as I call them) love to play the race card whenever possible if certain things involve people from races other than caucasian. Overall responsibility and accountability are clearly not liberal traits. Those people have a penchant for deceiving and scheming and covering up things in an attempt to hide the real truth behind whatever motive they have in trying to make things different, at least, in their eyes and not in the eyes of those who founded our country. Liberals do not have a sound appreciation for the things I've talked about that make America great. In fact, the left does not even believe that the USA is great at all, but, rather, is just another nation among many. How could you not want personal freedoms? How could not embrace any semblance of success in life? The left, by their actions, their words, and their lack of consciences, apparently have trouble embracing those things. They'd rather rejoice in the sufferings of others while only thinking about themselves. Many of them don't even salute the American flag. Many would rather burn it. While some of these folks have also put on a military uniform and have served in our Armed Forces at one time, I sometimes wonder what they thought about when they did. Liberals appear to care more about trees and lizards than they do people. From what I've seen, leftists are very divisive, angry, argumentative, tactless, and just plain unhappy. They complain more than any group I've ever seen. They want things handed to them rather than earn a living (even though many of them do have jobs to actually earn said living, making their desires seem a bit puzzling). Leftists also hate religious freedom, as well as the second amendment's right to bear arms. Liberal politicians don't do budgets and make themselves appear as slackers. What kind of positive influence is that for our young people today who need to become effective leaders for tomorrow? The Democrat Party does nothing more than embarrass itself every time it tries to make its presence known. I liken that camp to a kid at recess in elementary school who hoards the ball and won't give other kids a chance to play with it. Or that kid at recess who kicks over a sandcastle built by a classmate. Or the kid at recess whose name is Billy and he hits a fellow named Steve.............and blames Johnny for it when he gets in trouble! That's the will of the left. That camp also desires more government. Why??!! What has big government ever done that was good that ever made things better for us??

Nothing. ... Nothing.

Well, Case, what about independents, you ask? I can answer that question. While a few folks in our nation say they choose not to side with conservatives or liberals on many issues, most independents tend not to embrace many conservative ideologies, making them nothing more than leftists in sheep's clothing. It's really nothing more than that, so those professing to be independent are not conservative at all. Either you're conservative or you aren't. Simple as that.

I realize that there may be some difference between the liberals of the John Kennedy era and the liberals of the Barack Obama era. I also believe that, if such is the case, then leftist ideology in recent years had been swallowed by a disease known as socialism. Such is the opposite of prosperity, capitalism, freedom, and protection. And that's the very thing we are fighting against right now, and one thing that this great land does not need. Does not, folks. It's dangerous, and it's just plain wrong. I, for one, am fed up with politicians whose only motive is to destroy America and all that goes with it. They are our domestic enemies. I'm fed up with those who'd rather lie than just be forthright and truthful with the American people. I'm fed up even more with those who defend such buffoonery and think that those things are great. No wonder people don't trust politicians, especially with someone like Barry Obama trying to steer the White House ship, and doing so with such ignorant and reckless abandon. I sorely miss the days of former President Ronald Reagan, without question, this country's greatest president and equally great patriot. He was a true leader, much unlike that person some people voted into office in 2008. How can anyone want government to take total control of our personal lives all the way down to what we say? Not me. I would not stand for it.

But what's even more troubling than some of the politicians who work in Washington are these civilians who don't believe that this country is great and shouldn't compete with others for superiority. Here's a proposition for you on the left who obviously hate America: If you want America to be like Europe or Greece (I don't have to tell you how bad it is in those places, do I?), then why don't you just move to those places if you believe they are far superior to anything America has to offer? Maybe you folks like neighbor versus neighbor. Maybe you like street violence. Maybe you like living in a welfare state. Hate America?? Fine with me if that is what you choose. Just move away from it. Don't exhaust your energy trying to destroy our freedoms, our businesses, our families, our borders, our patriotism, our success, and our integrity! Let America be America. It's the land of the free and the home of the brave. You have a choice, liberals. You can suck it up, deal with it, and change your hearts and learn to appreciate, at least, some of the things that Americans richly embrace, or you can move away. Mark my words: You will not take away this great America!!! If you mess with America, then you mess with me. This great nation will stand as one. Freedom, justice, truth, labor, prosperity, loyalty, sacrifice, success, family, faith, and peace are the foundations of the United States. These things must stand.

Fortunately, there are many citizens of this great land who do love America for what it was intended for, and we will continue to cherish those things. And we also will continue to cherish and appreciate the vast, rich real estate of our incredible country, from the big mountains and prairies to coastlines and deserts, as well as our fantastic cities and towns. And there actually are politicians who are serving and trying hard to do the right thing and who are doing a great job by doing their civic duty for fellow Americans. If you truly love our nation, please take time out and give thanks for all that we've been truly blessed with.

We are very much under attack as a nation like never before, and like you said, alarmingly within. In an era where our attorney general is handing out guns to Mexican drug cartels, it is up to us to make sure that justice is properly served (Holder should be held in contempt and punished), and that any true American cannot allow that to happen. Now is as good a time as ever for us to stand our ground and not give in.

Looking forward to the 4th, Case. Can't believe it's already here.

First, how the hell do you get so many readers come to your blog? I'm wondering if just clicking on Welcome To Case's Column adds to your "view count". No one visits my blog. I get about three visitors to each entry. I once asked myself; would I bother with the blog if no one ever read it? Then I started a second blog at a different website and I got my answer; I would.

Anyhow, so much for the blogging stuff. As for this particular entry of yours, well, I pretty much disagree with it. I'm actually borderline annoyed by the attitude, to be honest. I'm from the school-of-thought that any American can believe, and say, what he or she wants. I might disagree with it, but I'm good with their thinking it, and saying it. I don't want to see the American flag being burned, but I like the court decision that made it legal to burn the flag. It's a fine, but all-important distinction.

If I were to time travel back to 1830 America, I'd probable hate what I would see. Women count not vote, slavery would be legal in most states, children would be working long hours in the factories. I'd probably yell and holler and make it look like I hated this country. Heck, there would be people who would demand my deportation. But make no mistake, underneath it all would lie a man who loves this country. Hopefully there would be enough citizens who would see that. A free democracy depends on it.

Glad to see you, Galileo. Regarding your concern for readers on my end, I'll DM you with my response. You'll have lots of readers with whatever you write. Heck, you've had several already stop by today. Don't sweat over whether you have readers or not; I'm around, and keep in mind that there are lots of folks around the world who visit these blogs daily. I've been reading your writings and you've done a fine job and I hope you'll stick around.

As for your comment on the subject at hand, I respect your opinion and appreciate you stopping by. We can agree to disagree. This country is just in big trouble and I am a concerned citizen. Granted, we've come a long way from 1830 and am not asking us to go back to that. We just have a lot of forces within our country that want us destroyed. Sure, we have freedom of speech, but the big issue is intent and motive.

It's quite obvious what that comedy show in Washington is presenting to the American people, mal. The tragedy of it is, it's not funny. Our so-called president doesn't give a damn about our Constitution or our citizens. He doesn't fool us anymore; we know what he really stands for. He is the most loathsome official in U.S. history and he ought to be punished for not following the Constitution, not to mention lying under oath. He doesn't want to protect our borders and is throwing away money that could have been investing domestically but has instead been tossed to other countries. What's even sadder are the people that worship him to no end. That situation, I pray, will be short-lived. Long story short, November won't come soon enough. If Romney wins (and I am very confident he will), he will have his work cut out for him to try to clean up the mess that this sick, demented incumbent has brought to us.

I guess I don't have to ask you about the health care decision, do I? Many states aren't going to do anything with it until the election takes place first.

I'm with you on the idea that liberals should just "up and leave" the country. Some movie stars threatened to back in '08 if McCain had won that election.

Well Case, I have a thing or two to ask and / or say.
Do you remember when the President of the United States was a respected person who earned the office yet with the honor and duties to perform, The Presidents of old did not have time to disgrace the office by trying to be an entertainer?

I seem to recall, holding an office where you represented the citizens was NOT a full time job with an outlandish pay check. Have any answers on the pay scale of politicians back in the horse and buggy day?

What has happened besides greed of power, money under the table, and what is in it for me.

How times certainly have changed. Today, we've got the most corrupt administration in history and, without question, a bad example for kids and young people when they are our future and, while impressionable, they see this crap happening in the White House thinking that's the way to run things. It's not good at all.
