Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

One Thing YouTube Must Consider For All Users
Posted 06-24-2012 at 01:04 PM by case44
As an active part of our Music forums, I always come across something really good to post for fellow C-D'ers who want to hear fabulous music. For those who participate, it usually means we take that trusty stop by YouTube to get our postings to be embedded for all to see and hear. Occasionally, however, even the most discriminating of posters face certain challenges when trying to come up with just the right video piece.
Posters try to find the exact right thing to post and, in doing so, would have to listen to the YouTube offering first before we decide if it's right. We search for what we desire to post, and, on some occasions, we'll run into one and we are forced to wait. That's right, wait! What are we waiting for, you ask?
It's the annoying commercial which we are forced to watch for fifteen seconds. We're forced to wait through that, and then..............., then we can listen to our selection. Now, on many other occasions, there's the opt-out (where we can skip in five seconds if we want to to get to the video). Heck, at least, that beats waiting for fifteen seconds, don't you think?
Other options, of course, include refreshing the page in hopes that the video would begin without watching said ad, but many times, it's to no avail and only adds to the annoyance because they just throw another commercial at us. Look, I know that many entities have to have sponsors to keep their product going, but come on......![Tape](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tape.gif)
~Sigh~. If only YouTube could eliminate the forced commercials so I ----- and others ----- won't need to wait for just the right post. Here's a suggestion: Use the opt-out anywhere there is an ad. Problem solved.

It has gotten pretty aggravating, Case. You go on to a video and play the waiting game in order for something to play, and then it freezes up on you.
Very unnerving. You'd think the people at YouTube could see that and try to fix it.Posted 06-30-2012 at 11:23 AM by malfunction
