Elmwood Park-Outrageous Water Rate Increase
Why are we Paying over $1,800.00 more than Chicago when were were told LAST YEAR that we would not pay any more than Chicago's increase to buy the water, see calculations below:
Elmwood Park household using 16,000 gallons of water will pay $4,080.96 for the above 4-year plan (2012-2015) passed by the Village Board, totaling, as follows:
2. Chicago household using 16,000 gallons of water will pay $2,250.24 for the above 4-year plan (2012-2015) passed totaling, as follows:
3. Elmwood Park (4) Year payment (more than Chicago) = $1,830.72
This increase that was passed almost doubles a residents bi-monthly payment in despite of the fact that we residents were told, both on camera and in the Elm Leaves by our outgoing Village Manager that Elmwood Park would merely pass on Chicago’s increase & days later the
Village almost doubled our payments. In my book, this is an outright “lie”, to all the residents.
What other word do you call it?
I also question the fact that we are only 1.9 square miles large while Chicago is "so” much larger than Elmwood Park, Chicago has a much more antiquated water & sewage systems & many more flooding problems than Elmwood Park does, we should be paying a cheaper rate or at least no more than Chicago Residents pay. The least you and the Board could have
done was to allow Retired , Veterans, & Veteran families with limited incomes the same as Chicago rate increase, instead you threw all the residents under the bus.
