Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Sneaking In Some Sustenance For Certain Greenery

There is always a time and a place for everything in life. In the case of seeing things like flower beds and bushes growing, you want to be sure that everything looks even halfway presentable for those who live at a residence. The residence in question for this post happens to be an apartment complex. You'd think the grounds crew would have figured out that something had gone wrong during last year's drought.
Here's the dill, pickle: There's a long line of shrubs between the parking lot's covered awnings and the building in which I reside. One shrub withered away completely this past year, with the surrounding shrubs as green as ever. A few shrubs looked like they needed some extra water. The one that withered just got replaced by a smaller baby shrub. With that in mind, The Case started using the old noodle.
Mother Nature tried to do its part in the last couple or three rain events, but since we have an extended sunshine spell --- and because said shrubbery row doesn't get that much sunshine --- this week, I decided on this very morning to add a little sustenance. Your favorite blogger took an near-empty water jug and filled it with water. In an effort to slightly upstage the grounds crew (who doesn't really water anything; they just make sure the sprinklers are working properly), I used the water in the jug to water the shrubs. Novel idea. Why not? I plan to do this act once or twice a week, at least, for a little while, and only when it does not rain. And all while nobody else is watching....
Just a good ol' boy scout doing his good deed, don't you think?
