"It's an employer's market," she says...

"but it will correct, and the jobs' requirements will become more normal again." She looks out upon our faces as we look back at her. Did we blink?
Did the others feel how oppressive that silence was -- pressing us to our seats?
Unable to bear it a second longer I raised my hand and nearly pleaded: "But I don't have that long. I'm nearly 56. By the time the market corrects I won't be able to get back to work..."
My words failed as I realized that the only work open to me then, probably now, is low-paying, less than my expenses -- already pared to bare bones to support our house, the two dogs, and ourselves.
Her eyes were sympathetic, but her words were all business. Between those said were the silent message: "Don't say that aloud. These people need to believe they will be placed -- they just need to do this next thing."
And she went on to describe the next thing, but I couldn't hear because I knew it was just another ladder leading to nowhere. I sat back, smiling and nodding as if it all made perfect sense, my mind racing over the budget we'd struggled to calculate with my reduced earnings. How long does unemployment last?
Suddenly, I wish DH had not donated all the camping equipment.

that's why I gave up on the idea of getting a job. I couldn't even get a job working at McDonalds, and I'm in college at Iona. I started looking online and found something that work. I suggest that you do the same. Now I don't have to wake up in the morning and work 9-5 for $7.50, I set my own hours and it's not hard work. For those that want to know my secret, send me a direct message or email me at lissgathers@gmail.com. Don't give up on yourself in this tough economic time that we are going through. Trust me there is a way.
