Where to live in Cincinnati Please Help!!!

I am a student in my 20s am I am planning to move to Cincinnati. I will be attending school at 640 Main St. I would like to find a place in that area or very close. I prefer the loft style apts I would only need a 1 br, studio or loft. I would love to be able to walk out my door and go to school, shopping, restraunts, etc. I have found some really nice places 2 blocks from school in an area called Over the Rine. I have heard mixed signals about this area. I have heard that it once was not a great part of town but has been improving and has cleaned itself up. What do you think?? Would this area be safe?? If not where would be some other areas near by?? Please help thanks??
