Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Oklahoma City's Landscape Is Really Changing Now
Posted 03-20-2012 at 04:15 PM by case44
It's been too long, dangit, but I'm going to get back there when I can. Oklahoma City, America; that's where I've got to go again. The Rib Crib. Bricktown. Lake Hefner. Quail Springs Mall. Route 66. Sure, I've got a few cousins and second cousins scattered across that fair burg, but that's not important now. ![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Contained within the cityscape of one Oklahoma City, Oklahoma are two brand-new features to make same a better place. They anticipate the grand opening of the new Devon Energy Tower, now the state's tallest building, at 850 feet, but just 50 stories. It's a dramatic, new addition to a skyline that needed it most. Tulsa's been stealing the show in Oklahoma, but the tide is turning now. Oklahoma City now has the talk of the Sooner State. It's a beautiful structure by day, but it really lights up by night. Here are two links to give you a good look.

The second new feature is a new stretch of Interstate 40. It had been realigned through the downtown area. The Crosstown Expressway has been rerouted away from a crumbling elevated structure that had just gotten to be unsafe for transcontinental travelers to a spanking-new, ten-lane, ground-level facility. It's so much better and will allow for new development opportunities and a great new gateway to OKC's downtown area.
You'll see an image with a truss that looks like a giant pair of scissors: That happens to be OKC's new Skydance Bridge, which is near I-40 and Walker. A few links for all of this are below.

Yes, I've got to get back to America's Corner, Oklahoma City, on a future road trip. That city's future is only beginning.

First, I'm going to have to have plenty of gas money since prices are so high!
I'll eventually make that trip; just not now.Posted 03-31-2012 at 07:43 PM by case44
