Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Sleep Tight If You Can - And Possibly Some Pleasant Dreams

Posted 02-19-2012 at 03:15 PM by case44

The intention was to get more sleep than I've been getting going into my first work day back from my weekend (which, in this case, is Friday and Saturday). It's uncanny the things that occur during the most nocturnal conditions. Have a crazy dream, wake up to get a drink of water, and then have another crazy dream.

Last night, I slept great and had a dream which I don't remember now, except that it was weird. I tend to have many of those from time to time. Around 2 a.m. this morning, I found myself with a dry throat and needed to get up to have myself a couple of swigs of water, which was still left in my water bottle from Saturday. Then I went back to sleep once again. Incredible how, on such a long night, I could have two separate dreams. Never mind the first one, but the second is more worth remembering. Much of the specifics of that dream have escaped me, but the woman in that dream was totally unforgettable. I'm sitting here at my computer trying to recollect the events that were involved in said dream.

What I do remember was that this lady whom I thought was someone my mother knew somehow turned out not to be, but she and I began to flirt with one another. She was slightly older than I am, with auburn hair, gorgeous smile, tanned skin, and an incredible build. Details from that dream are sketchy now, but if I had written this after I'd first gotten up, you'd have seen some adventure. There were various locales during the episode in which this lady and myself were constantly interacting. There had to be some promise and possibly a potential relationship of some sort coming from this. I think I wanted to ask that woman out, but she proved to remain elusive, despite an openness and a nice smile. The dream was getting real good when I then found myself awake......................without the alarm clock going off. I remained in my bed until the alarm would go off at 3:40 so I could rise and meet the day.

Odds are, I'll probably never meet this particular woman again in a dream (let alone reality), but then, stranger things have happened. I didn't even get her name. Maybe next time I go beddy-bye, another strange dream and another strange story will take place. You've had them, and I'm sure y'all have had weird encounters, and if you have, then feel free to mention it/them in the comments below. Maybe you've had something that outdoes what I had this morning. And the funny thing is, weird dreams (usually....) never come true.

Of course, the worst part of any dream is you appear to get to the climax or some other good part, and then it's time to wake up. Don't you wish dreams could just go on and on?

Believe me, it's happened to me many a time. Sometimes, I wish I wouldn't have an alarm clock.
