Politics and Religion do NOT Mix

Posted 02-03-2012 at 07:52 PM by LookinForMayberry

I continue to be flummoxed about how so many people can think that their religious beliefs have a place in politics. What we believe controls what we practice in our lives. Our politics control our society. Society is not an extension of ourselves. It is the community we live in and contribute to, based on our beliefs.

We do not get to dictate what others believe.

We all get ONE vote. If two people in a room vote differently, there's no progress. If they can sit down and discuss their views with the understanding that both are equal, they have a chance to progress.

Multiply this equation by 150 million and that's the situation we have here in the US. We have to come out of our corners, put down the digs, the slams, and the jabs. We have to respect one another and speak to the issues maturely.

And we need to do it soon. Very, very soon.

There is no winner in this if we cannot get to a meeting of the minds. There are only 300 million losers. That includes you and me.
