Controlling our Birth Rates

Posted 02-03-2012 at 09:09 AM by LookinForMayberry

It infuriates me that because our world cultures are built on the concept of "go forth and multiply" -- not for any spiritual aspect, though that's how it was delivered to the Israelites who passed it on to Christians, but for the pure, simple reason of "more people, greater ability to dominate and exploit." It is not our obligation or right to overpopulate. It is irresponsible and stupid.

Now here we are, a planet dying from our wastes because our ecosystems cannot handle our populations, and we just go merrily along -- assuming it is our moral right and obligation to continue to give birth at multipliers that are only defied by rats, cancer and bacteria.

So, regardless of any others' thoughts about Planned Parenthood, my DH and I support it with vigor. We thank God every day for our choice to NOT reproduce, and we wish everyone would try to restrict themselves to one. (Trust me, she won't be lonely.)

It is time we STOPPED giving financial incentives to people to have children. In fact, I think that rather than give them tax breaks and additional welfare, we should charge them for the strain that those extra mouths put on us.

Good to know there is someone out there like me and my wife. We too chose not to reproduce. I fear the movie Idiocracy will come to pass. Good thing we will not be adding to it.
