I know I just wrote yesterday however, today I am thinking more clearly even though I am tired.

Sneakers and I decided to pay what has to be paid before the end of this month which is tomorrow. Those items got paid in person or online this morning. As the week moves forward we will make a decision what to pay before the 11th of February which is the due date of the next item on our list.

I think the best thing for us to do is to pay off everything that is on a credit card or charges interest except for the one big debt. That will leave us 2 items to get paid in full for a total of about $70,000.00. That sounds like a lot but comparatively it isn't a lot from what we have already paid off.

Within the next few days we will have 2 unpaid debts left to get paid in full, $1000.00 in an emergency fund, a budget set for the next few months and a solid direction to go.

There are several things that we would like to purchase or attend so in addition to paying the debt we will be saving for those things. One is a motor home, it is used, older but in mint condition. There is a class I would like to attend and the cost is $2950.00 plus the cost of transportation to get to this class since it is several states away from where we live. I would like to attend in mid March however, I will more than likely have to wait until June to attend this class so we have all the cash we need to pay for everything and NOT go into debt. After that we will be saving money in a 3 - 6 month emergency expenses fund, putting money into a Money Market account and working toward retirement savings and using the Debt Snowball according to Dave Ramsey's program to get the last 2 debts paid in full that are outside of our actual necessities.

I will be looking into shutting off the cable television which will save us $76.11 per month and we have considered shutting off the home telephone as well. We have items that do not currently fit into our home that will be going in an ad to sell and get them out of our shed. Selling these items will accomplish 2 things, it will get them out of our shed and give us more room there and we can use the money we get from those items to put toward our debt and get it paid down a wee bit more.

Otherwise we will be trying to cut back on our gasoline use and the number of times we go out to eat. We don't really go that often since I cook at home but we do go out to eat more often than we should.

Once I talk to Sneakers and we discuss this a bit more and agree how to proceed I will set up the payments that need to be made, we will finish the budget and life will go on as we work our way to a debt free life with emergency funds being set in place and retirement investments started.

What a journey to start so late in life however, it is never too late to start a Journey that will be well worth the effort and sacrifice needed to get to the end of that tunnel.

The program is Dave Ramsey, The Total Money Makeover and Dave's motto for this program is:

"Live like no one else now so you can LIVE like no one else"

So how will you live? Will you choose to explore the world of Dave Ramsey and his program to become debt free and live like no one else or will you choose to remain in debt for the rest of your life?

I know the choice that Sneakers and I have made and I am quite happy he and I are reading the same book at the same time and on the same page as we start this Journey AGAIN.............together!
