Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

New Finds Are Almost Like A Gold Mine
Posted 01-06-2012 at 06:34 PM by case44
Amazing how, when I post things in the Music forums, there's always something new out there not yet discovered before. Through the years, when I hear or have heard some songs on the radio, I'll admit that I've never known the titles or the artists. Thanks to YouTube nowadays, the discoveries find me almost as often as I find the discoveries.
It was on a certain thread that I decided to post artists such as Ann Cole, Climax Blues Band, Ned Doheny, and the Ralph Marterie Orchestra, and all that was in addition to more familiar artists. I had never even heard Doheny on the radio in my life, as I recall, but he recorded some wonderful songs from the mid-to-late 1970s. Cole and Marterie were little-known and also from a bygone era. But even groups like Sneaker, whose big hit, "More Than Just The Two Of Us" is among my all-time favorite single hit songs, I have never gotten any of that band's albums. Thanks to the Internet and YouTube, I am now able to listen to songs I've discovered, so I can wait to get a CD (if that, of course). That's the beauty of music. It's like a gold mine when you find new songs that you can hum.
Like the greatness that is City-Data, the excitement of new things to post on our Music forums exhibits its own greatness. AM and FM gold?? Yes. In a new way, too.![Cool](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif)
