Who shall I send?

And who will go for us?
Isaiah 6:1-8
That has always been the question I have wanted to answer. In fact I have tried to answer it throughout my life in some way, shape, or form. Though my response has generally been metaphoric, or symbolic at best.
I have also tried to create my own interpretation as to where I should go. I would head out to some unknown waste land--Honor, Michigan (real no man's land), Oil City Pennsylvania; Honeybrook, Pennsylvania (50 miles west of Philadelphia), St. Michaels' Maryland; Yee Haw Junction, Florida (between Okeechobee and Orlando), As well as some beautiful places I never wanted to leave like Cameron, Montana; Yellowstone, Wyoming; Kremmling Colorado; Madison, Wisconsin; Boulder Colorado, and a thousand other places between Williamsburg, Virgina and Portland, Oregon along the 5,000 mile Trans-American Bicycle Trail.
Then, just like Jonah, I would always find myself back where I was meant to be. Every journey was temporary, or so I thought.
But in looking back, every journey has been the purpose for my travels. Every destination has had a reason. Everytime I left, I did do thinking
"If only I could have stayed another day, a week, a month...if I had more time here I could have done someting.."
It is only in retrospect, that I am able to understand the influence I have had at each juncture of my travels. I have not always changed the world, but I doubt if that was the goal, but I have changed perceptions, given life to old dreams, and most importantly I have LEARNED so much more than I have taught.
