Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Giving Thanks While Overcoming Certain Circumstances

Amazing, isn't it, how things cannot possibly get done when you don't have a computer at your disposal? Thankfully, I was able to get this precious commodity back in time for the holiday season. Last Thursday night, my computer just froze. Couldn't Alt-Control-Delete or anything else. I called Time Warner to seek a fix for the problem the next day, only to be told that someone won't be at my place for another................six days?? The agony of six days of waiting for a technician to come to my apartment and diagnose the problem, well, that's all overwith. Can I be thankful for being able to go forward with life? Sure thing.

Once upon a yesterday, a technician from Time Warner, combined with a Hewlett Packard rep over the phone (which took parts of four hours), went through the nitty-gritty with me and, in concert with one other, we came up with one solution: Get a new modem!

If I had known that that would have been the thing to solve all my internet problems, then I would have sought this last Friday when I needed it! Okay, that's out of the way. Now, on to the real bit I want to get to for today. I have reason to give thanks for having a computer, but also for a place to live, clothes on my bod, a wonderful car that's already paid for (Just think: No car payments!), family close-by, work friends, a nation where we still enjoy freedom, and last but not least, food to eat. Yes, I've had worse things happen, but nobody likes inconveniences. I'm thankful that such circumstances like what I just went through can be overcome.

Sounds like we've all got much to be thankful for on this 2011 Thanksgiving.

Trials and Tribulations test our 'metal'..
We can either bend, or break, it depends on how we look at life, and how life looks at us.

Do we have the 'coping skills'? Do we have a firm foundation? Do we have Faith to go forward and do what we must do, knowing we have someone looking down on us, and smiling, because we passed this test or that test, and have kept going...

There are many 'families' that support us.
Our personal family, Wife, Husband, Children, Parents, all should be helpful or get out of the way LOL
Our Church family to keep us on the straigh and narrow, and to help guide us, when we stray...
Our Community family of immedate friends, and associates that keep in touch, to make sure your doing ok
Our Wor Family, those CoWorkers who have our backs, when times are tough at work, and will pick up the slack for us, if we have a bad day...
Our FATHER and HIS SON, who, watch down on each of us, and loves us more than any of the previous

    I wish you well...
