Things you think about as you get older

People generally think that they are nice. They generally think that as they go through their harried and rushed day. "I'm a good person, I must be, I do X Y and whatever Z may be.
But,.... I've had the realization that I'm not a nice guy.
Well, sure, I'll do the occasional greeting, do the prerequisite nice guy gestures.
But, I have to realize that I'm not really the nice guy that I thought I was.
I ain't bad, I just ain't a real charmer. I generally don't go out of my way for people, it it suits me, fine, if not.... it probably won't happen.
This is a rather stoic realization. It doesn't usually give us pleasure to think that we are selfish pricks.
Yeah, it is what it is.

Seem crappy doesn't it.
I watched my Mom get beat up by her BF one time, this inspired me to want to be a "better man"
I think I have a little bit of journey in front of me still.
Wish me luck.

I totally get what you mean. Hence my tagline: 'I am no better or worse than you.' I am actually suspicious of people who walk around reminding us of what 'good person' they are. I don't think people who are genuinely kind people need to do that. Their behavior would speak the truth of their hearts. And regarding your earlier post, yes, some people, myself included, are also not yet familiar with themselves. Many believe that certain deeds that they have elected to perform define whether they are nice people.
