Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Case's Food Reviews: Installment Four

This restaurant has been passed by many a time when I'm trekking into Frisco, Texas, from my apartment. So, tonight became sometime. Enough time had simply gone by, and this writer needed to have something different for dinner this very evening. I needed to give Kenny's Burger Joint a try.

Located near the Sam Rayburn Tollway (State Highway 121) and Legacy Drive in the Stonebriar section of Frisco, this modern burger hangout is definitely not a hole-in-the-wall type. That's considering that one of the neighboring restaurants is a fine dining spot called The Silver Fox Steakhouse (which could be another review for another day). Meanwhile, I've set foot into Kenny's, which had a modern black-tile roof and a very ample, but somewhat cramped, seating area, and having read the menu on the website numerous times, I scanned the menu inside the joint. I kept my plan simple: Kenny's cheeseburger with an order of French fries and iced tea. They serve their burgers on these special Ciabatta buns. The meat is Sterling Silver brand and is broiled over mesquite wood, complete with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and long pickle slices. Different kinds of cheeses (I chose American). Ordinarily, they serve many of their burgers with mayonnaise, but I'm a mustard guy, so I made the proper substitution. Kenny's has an excellent burger with an extraordinary taste. The fries had a special coating on them, it seemed, giving them a soft crunch. Tasted good, but not the best burger-place fries I've had, though I've had much worse. As for the tea, it's just like I would make (they have unsweetened and sweetened as your options). For those of you whose appetites I've just aroused, Kenny's has an extensive menu which includes things like sweet potato fries, fried pickles, wings, salads, tuna steak, grilled chicken, hot dogs, and numerous burger choices. Tea, soft drinks, beer, and wine are among drink selections. A young gentleman (possibly a college student) took my order and did his job very well and provided good service. I would have preferred a hot chick to wait my table, but that's not important now.

In case you're interested and live close to the area, here's the link: Kenny's Burger Joint - Frisco

The cost of this meal is no different from many places I go to (burgers are by themselves, and all sides are extra), and with Scotty P's still a major player for me in Frisco, Kenny's provides some pretty good competition. Worth going to again?? Yes. There will be a next time.
