Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Winter
Posted 12-15-2008 at 03:27 PM by case44
What a huge difference twenty-four hours can make. One day, we have spring-like temperatures and a little sunshine at my home in North Texas. The next day, you'd swear that the powers that be have moved Antarctica south of the Red River. That was some cold front, wasn't it? So, now that gas prices are down to an acceptable level, so, too, are the energy costs, and I can use a little more warm air flow in my abode to go with a potential cup of hot chocolate or coffee. And now is the time for me to do that.
How is it where you are today? Are you really feeling it? There have been some huge snowstorms up north, in the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes, and in the Pacific Northwest. I'm employed as a dispatcher of courier drivers, and the people that I worked with before I sat down to write this blog have been telling me that that snowstorm is the biggest they've seen in ten years. Now, my neighborhood in North Texas won't get snowy, but if there's any rain before Wednesday, it could make things interesting with the slipping and sliding. In the meantime, I'm curling up right here with the computer and taking in more warm air (while I spew more hot air from the keyboard) as the winter months approach rather aggressively.

it's been typical weather here the past few days, around 50-60 degrees. But it was one cold november.

We were cold here for a few days, and we had fog on Wednesday. But it's back to "reality" on Thursday and Friday. I'll be having 60s and 70s for highs. Got to love that winter in Texas.

It's warm now --- 70. I won't have to worry about this winter time. Should be spring before too long.

I don't want this 70's weather in the winter! I'm glad it doesn't stay freezing in Texas for weeks or months on end but I do like a little bit of cold for our short winters. And some snow would be nice! A couple of inches would be my limit, though.

Well, hey, at least you won't have temps in the 100s at this time. So, these mild winters are still a nice trade-off.

Sunshine doesn't have to be monotonous.
