Feeling Great

Posted 10-29-2011 at 10:04 PM by snowduck

Habakkuk 3:18 - yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk wrote his old testament book of prophecy about 605 b.c. He starts it with a complaint to God asking why evil and injustice were allowed to thrive, but after hearing God's answer Habakkuk wasn't just happy, but he rejoiced and was joyful. We can all stand with him at his rejoicing and being joyful in knowing that God is our Savior. Because of our sins we cannot be reconciled to God on our own. He takes our sinfulness very seriously and demands it be paid for. In order to save us he sent his only son Jesus to be the sacrifice and pay for the sins of all people. God did this out of his great mercy and love for us. Having faith in Jesus as our Savior is the only way to reconcile ourselves to God, and anyone who comes to Christ has every sin they've ever committed forgiven because he has paid for them all on the cross no matter what they are, and that is the only thing that God will accept for our salvation. The prophet Habakkuk may not have known all the details in his time but the main idea was there, and he was right in referring to God as our Savior. What About Jesus?
