[Rant]Mindless Political Flailing=Insanity

I'm have no political savvy so I'll say this as best I can.
Watching a documentary on political blogs and such made me wonder; if one's goal related to affiliation is for righteousness as opposed to just winning...being right...being first...why, as they so often and freely state, the 'Let's do this! " [Fill with all the desperate, shameless lies and insults and all the demeaning things you can think of to say about the opposing party] That'll p*** those [fill in political affiliation here] off!" Why not look for a more united and common ground? If you sat down for an hour with your worst enemy you'd find at least one thing you had in common-- at least one--and would most likely walk away with a different and broader view of him. Compassion and understanding may even creep in. Oh no!
Maybe I'm just naive...idealistic....clueless...but politics has and will continue to divide this country until people finally snap out of their I-hate-you-because-you-don't-think-like-me stupor to say, Enough! We're being consumed by our own hatred and will most likely be our own downfall. Right now, the way we're handling it is Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. And that, as has been said, is the definition of insanity. Who needs to worry about terrorism when we have ourselves? [/rant]
