Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Diamond Thoughts From Rangerville: Seven Is Not A Lucky Number After All
Posted 10-29-2011 at 08:46 AM by case44
Baseball can be a funny game sometimes, as a wise man named Joe Garagiola used to say on television. The Texas Rangers are a team that sees why that is, as they just lost their second World Series in a row, this time at the hands of the St Louis Cardinals.
So, here is how it is: Texas teams are now 0-3 in World Series action. I can hear this big sigh of relief from Houston Astros fans this morning, but it's sometimes hard to know which team they actually rooted for last night, given that the Rangers mean state pride and the Cardinals are the Astros' biggest divisional opponent. As a matter of fact, the Astros were the very team the Cardinals beat on the last day of the regular season so that St Louis would clinch this year's National League Wild Card. The Rangers, meanwhile, aren't last-place chumps anymore, but they still show how futile this franchise still is, no matter how vigorously competitive they have been the last few years. They're being compared to the NFL's Buffalo Bills in terms of big-game disappointment. Houston had lost their only WS back in ought-5, and Texas has now lost two.
The questions, at this point, come to mind. What will the Rangers do in the offseason? Now, we'll be finding out in the media sources and in the Sports forums, but it will be interesting to see what GM Jon Daniels has up his sleeve. And you have to feel a little sorry for Rangers prez Nolan Ryan. I saw the looks on his face on TV last night as the cameras showed him during the Rangers then-deficit in the game, culminating in an eventual Game 7 loss. Ryan, for all his greatness, deserves better, but if nothing else, he's helped get the Rangers out of the also-ran abyss that has riddled this franchise since the expansion Washington Senator days.
Next time there is a Game 7, sports fans, make sure you are the home team.
All I can say.

I think they make one or more pitcher moves. They need to build up their depth in that area, obviously.
Apart from that, I don't know. Maybe they do nothing else...Posted 11-01-2011 at 04:47 PM by shoe01 -
They sure don't need much, shoe. Sure will be an interesting offseason.
