Humility and Respect Raises US to a Higher Level

Posted 08-17-2011 at 06:46 AM by LookinForMayberry

Though not a Christian Scientist, I've enjoyed the Monitor's articles frequently enough that I like to follow their RSS feeds to see what their take is on situations.

This article captured me for its subtitle, and scanning down through its words I came across this quote that embodies what I've learned so deeply in these past few years: "...the message God imparts to human consciousness is 'Remember that you – and everyone else – are my spiritual image and likeness, actually capable only of thoughts and actions that reflect my love and care for everyone.'"

[Emphasis is mine.]

We get so focused on our own opinions that we forget we cannot see the whole, big picture, and we NEED to listen to one another to learn and grow to a better level of understanding. If our egos are too great, or our pride too strong, we cannot get past ourselves to really listen to the others.

Lately, as I watch, read, and listen to the current events it seems like each of us might as well be standing together in a large room with our fingers stuck in our ears, trying only to shout down everyone else doing the same.

It's a torture to figure out how we can get ourselves beyond this point. It tends to belie the latter point made: "...capable only of thoughts and actions that reflect [God's] love and care for everyone."

Still, another deeply learned lesson I've gleened that while we exist in, and have our being of God, God does give us free will. It is THAT will that led us to leave the Garden, and gives us authority to choose our base animal natures over our higher God-given consciousness, IF WE CHOOSE.

Meanwhile, God sits by, knowing eventually we will return to the Garden because it is the only place to return to in the world he's provided us.

Yet, how long we choose to remain in the darkness, creating our babble, is always up to us.

Today, I pray that I will be able to close my mouth, take my fingers from my ears, and dedicate my hands to helping others attain their peace of mind that they too may do the same.

God bless you and give you peace in your heart so you may choose your higher level of love and concern for everyone.

I dont know you but your article has touched me deeply in my heart. I want to say Thank You ... I have been sad for roughly 2 weeks now knowing that my hrs at work have been cut and I wounder how I'm going to feed myself and pay my bills. But reading your statement has made me to realize I still have something to work with and I dont have to put others down just because I'm down. God Bless Us All
