Active 55+ communities in Sarasota and Manatee county

If you're looking specifically to stick to 55+ in Sarasota county, these would be my suggestions. I put my top picks in bold green so they're easier to spot.
There are a few homes in Venetian Falls in Venice in the 2300 sq ft range. That's the only community I know of in Sarasota county that is 55+ and would have a home that size. You could get a 2500 sq ft home for around $285k. Unfortunately, the home is two stories. It has three bedrooms and two baths on the ground floor and a large bonus room and bath upstairs. This community would be a good choice. It has an activities director, social hall, garden plots, bocce, arts and crafts room, Internet café, billiard room, state of the art exercise facility, grilling area, resistance walking pool and heated lap pool. It's also gated. There is one at $285k for sale in here. No properties 2300 sq ft or larger have sold in the last 6 months.
Park Forest in Englewood has homes in the 2000 sq ft range and they are brand new. They are currently being listed for $232k. Park Forest has a community heated pool, shuffleboard, tennis courts and clubhouse. The average sale in here in the last 6 months is $212k.
Cypress Falls in North Port is another 55+ community but I think most of the homes in there will be too small for you.
Now if you want to go over to Manatee county and stay in a 55+ community the larger homes are going to be in Lakeridge Falls. There are some in the 2200 sq ft range. They generally sell for around $270k-$350k. There are lots of activities in this community and it has a clubhouse, heated pool, exercise room, club rooms and a computer room.
Cascades has a few homes in the 2100 sq ft range. They generally sell for around $270k-$310K. Like most of the 55+ communities it is also very active and has lots of activities going on. It's gated, has a 25000 sq ft clubhouse with full time manager, a giant heated swimming pool, tennis courts with pro and pro shop, bocce courts, two card rooms, billiards, huge craft room w/ kiln, library, ballroom with stage for events and entertainment and state of the art fitness center.
The homes in most of the other communities are probably too small-River Isles and Garden Lakes Village.
Alright, let's take out the option of 55+ and just go with gated and 2300 sq ft in Sarasota county. We'll keep the price range from $200k-$450k to see what we get:
Sarasota communities:
Villagewalk in Sarasota-Towncenter with meeting, card and party rooms, lending library with Internet, two heated community pools, 6 har tru tennis courts, state of the art fitness center, full time activities director, miles of walking and biking trails. It also has an on-site café, hair salon, gift shop, bank and post office. $400k+ is what you'd be looking at in here in your square footage. The average 2300 sq ft or larger home in here has sold for $422k in the last 6 months.
Vineyard of Silver Oak in Sarasota- 24 hour gated, clubhouse, heated lap pool, fitness center and an active social program.
Lots of stuff in Bent Tree a Sarasota golfing community. Most of the homes were built in the early to mid 80's. I'm afraid this community might not be as social as you are looking for. $439K+ would be the minimum square footage in here at this size. No sales in here have been recorded in the last six months.
County Club of Sarasota-golfing, gated, tennis, fitness center.
Deer Creek in Palmer Ranch-24 hour guarded gate and reasonable association fees. Not a whole lot of activities going on though.
Eastlake in Sarasota-Gated.
The Hammocks in Sarasota-Gated
Amberlea-Gated.
The Hamptons in Sarasota- Community heated pool, gated
Heritage Oaks Golf and County Club in Sarasota-Community pool, Gated, golf, tennis courts.

Laurel Lakes in Sarasota-Community pool, gated, tennis courts, fitness.
Marbella in Sarasota-Gated
Misty Creek in Sarasota-Gated and Tennis.
Palmer Glen in Sarasota-Gated.
Prestancia in Sarasota-Community pool, gated, golf.
Red Hawk Reserve in Sarasota-Gated.
Serenoa in Sarasota-Tennis, golf, gated.
Stoneybrook in Sarasota-tennis courts, gated, golf, community pool.
Tatum Ridge in Sarasota-Gated and golf.
Trillium in Sarasota-Gated.
Turtle Rock in Sarasota-Community pool, Tennis, gated.
North Port communities:
Heron Creek in North Port-Golf, fitness center, three lighted har-tru tennis courts, pro shop, 21000 sq ft two level clubhouse with fine dining. Homes in the 2300 sq ft are listing for $239k+. The average sale in this community for a 2300 sq ft or larger home is $333K.
Islandwalk at the West Villages on the North Port/Venice boarder-830 acre resort style living, lap and lagoon pools, fitness center, tennis courts, miles of walking trails and a full time activities director. 24/7 security. Homes in the 2300 sq ft are listing for $286K+.There was one recent sale in Islandwalk at $293K.
Bobcat Trail in North Port has many homes in that square footage and is also gated. It has golfing, a clubhouse with restaurant, community center with large exercise room, kitchen and meeting room for activities. It also has tennis courts.
Englewood communities:
Boca Royale in Englewood is gated and has golf. There are many homes in here in the 2300 sq ft range. Homes in this sq footage are listing for $399k+. There weree two homes that were over 2300 sq ft that sold in the last 6 months and both sold at $350k.
Stillwater in Englewood-gated.
Nokomis communities:
Calusa Lakes in Nokomis has tennis, golf and is gated. You would find homes in the 2300 sq ft range in your range.
Dolphin Shores in Nokomis-Gated, water access, waterfront complex, boat slips and a dock.
Venice communities:
Venetian Golf & River Club in Venice-Fitness center, 6 har tru tennis courts, golf, dining room, 2 resort pools, 70 acre nature park with boardwalk to Myakka River and canoe launch, activities director. You be looking at a list price of around $380k+ for a 2300 sq ft home or larger. The average sale in the last 6 months for a 2300 sq ft or larger home was $370K.
Governors Green in Venice-Gated, golf and tennis.
Pelican Pointe in Venice-Community pool, tennis courts, gated, golf.
Venetia in Venice-Community resort style pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, fitness center.
Venice Golf & County Club-Tennis, golf, community pool, gated.
Ventura Village in Venice-Gated and community heated pool.
Waterford in Venice-Pool, clubhouse with manager, card rooms, exercise rooms, library, tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts and picnic area.
