Too Much Time on this Box

The birds are singing in the new sunrise, and here I am on this little box, reading posts, Google reader subscriptions, Facebook, etc. What I should be doing is pulling out that exercise mat and stretching out these stiff, achy muscles that woke me at 2:30 this morning (and the last three), and start my day.
I started "liking" on Facebook, enthralled with that medium's facility of bringing little updates to me for further investigation, or not, at the click of my mouse. Then, I discovered I could subscribe to my Google Reader, and keep the articles more handily than trying to find them again in FB. Through all this clicking and choosing, I am seeing a pattern develop. How I think of myself, and how I am are taking divergent paths.
I like to think of myself as socially and politically aware and involved, participating in my community locally and at large, concerned about people of all walks -- everywhere. I like to think of myself as physically active and working daily to maintain my level of activity.
But instead I seem to be more interested in sitting on my butt, READING and forming opinions, and musing over craft designs, but doing very little of anything at all.
It shows when I go to the gym -- stiff and sore, spending a half hour just to work the kinks out and stretch sore muscles. Those muscles are sore because I haven't been keeping them active.
So, enough writing about it, and now GETTING to it.
I may be gone for awhile -- at least that's my intention.
Be well, have a great summer.
