As long as I can recall, I've thought of myself as a person. I think of other people as persons, too. I don't care what their color is, what they believe, what language they speak. If they behave like a person, look like a person, and quack like a person, I figure they are a person.
I get that men and women are physically different; for that matter, people in general are physically different. I don't question that women and men respond to situations differently. Again, doesn't everyone?
So, forgive my ignorance, but why on earth is it acceptable to think women are inferior to men? Other than physical capacity, simply because of smaller frames and less muscle mass, I can find no evidence that the females of our species are any less deserving of our esteem. So, why the perpetual practice of subjecting women to oppression and violence? Why doesn't it ever stop?
And further, why do we women continue to allow it? Why do we allow ourselves to be bound by men that are willing to abuse us?
If I really expected any actual answers, I would've posted this to the forums, but I know how disastrously that would end. I don't want to start any arguments, I just want to stop hearing about violence against women on the news. I want to stop reading about abuses.
I guess I just needed to "say" it out loud. If one of you out there is being subjected to tyranny, or tyrannizing another -- STOP; please, just stop. Leave. Just walk out the door and go find a life without that insanity. There are options open to you that don't include what you are doing. Regardless of which end of the abuse you are on, you are being hurt. Stop hurting.
