Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

More Scattershooting/Favorite Show Updates

Here we are again, scattershooting and going all over the place once more. And we're all thinking about Black Friday. I went out and people watched and browsed at a couple of area malls.

And you? Well, I guess we'll just find out this Christmas.

If you're like me, you have favorite TV shows of years long past. And when you were a kid, you often wondered if, whenever you've missed an episode, you'd ever see that episode again in your lifetime. Well, first, there was syndication so that shows could live forever in reruns on your local station. Now, fast forward to today, where we have an invention called the DVD. I don't have to scientifically explain it to you, about how long they last and how they provide crisp, clear clarity, do I? No, I don't. You already know.

So, I am looking forward to the purchases of two new DVDs within the next couple of months. The new Night Gallery - Season 2 DVD is finally out, so I'll purchase that about sixteen hours after I write this. I wondered if it would ever come out, given the time it took Universal to finally gather up the original broadcast material. That other DVD would be Emergency! - Season 5. It comes out in January.

I'm getting groceries for my shrimp gumbo, which I plan to make on Sunday. This will be my first time to make it. As much as I've cooked, this will also mark the first time I get to make a roux. Should be an interesting weekend considering how deep I have to go to make something good. I'll keep you posted.

Pardon me while I sing something.

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With those blogs that we're posting
And turkeys we're roasting
There's lots of good cheer........

Speaking of old TV shows, I just made a remarkable discovery. It's called the Retro Network. It offers flexible programming on a local digital substation in your area (where it's offered, of course) and has a pretty good array of old shows, some of which you might not have seen in about thirty years.

And our word of the day is pillow. It's the very thing that I am going to lay my head on when I sleep tonight.......on my pillow! Or, for those of you getting married and probably putting your new home together, it might be your next......uh, stocking stuffer!

And there you are.

Come on now, folks. You do have a favorite show to watch on DVD, don't you? You are out there. I sense your presences.

My goodness! Looking at an old Scattershooting from a decade ago. I think I've come a long way since then, don't you think?
