Dreams, Ambitions, and Greener Grass

Dreams are great -- that's why it's fun to buy Lotto tickets. But dreams realized can't ever be as great as the anticipation, near as I can tell from my own experience. No, I never won a Lotto, but have realized some other dreams, and they're no longer any fun.
Ambitions often change as we get into doing what it takes to realize an ambition. I'm reading "Team of Rivals" right now and find even the most successful among us (like Abe Lincoln) have no idea where their life is going before they actually get "on the road."
Then there's the "grass is always greener" thing. I think there can be places where the grass is greener, but few of us find those places. I don't know whether to just stay put after 9 major moves in 26 years or keep going. I do know that lots of people are in my same boat. People who have never moved have no idea what I'm talking about. They accuse me of running away when I talk about packing up again. Their "running away" is my "adventure." At least that's how I've always seen it.

Great post, and I know what you mean about people accusing you of "Running Away" LOL!
But most people say they envy me...Posted 05-25-2009 at 12:54 PM by anomoly -
anomoly, I just now saw your comments -- thanks!!!
Your photos of NM are gorgeous, especially the light sanctuary. Prisms are great -- I have a few in my kitchen/dining that get southwest sun. They make me happy.....what else can I say? Safe traveling..............Posted 08-04-2009 at 03:20 PM by FiftyFiftyAboutCO
