Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

As The Ceiling Fan Turns

Posted 02-27-2011 at 06:21 PM by case44

I guess if, in one blog, I write about the earth turning, then I should just write about another thing turning, right? In any event, I've still made you look.

The Case is just in one of those strange moods, I guess. Typing, fidgeting, and then more typing. My day was just another routine Sunday, except for me spending a little more time in the kitchen than usual. After an exciting meal of three sloppy Joes and a fourth one for dessert, I washed all of those things down with some Lipton iced tea. While I wondered what to write about next, I think about this radio/cassette player that's sitting on my bureau chest in the "master's" bedroom. Funny how things are in life. I don't listen to it as often as I used to, but that radio still works. It's a companion when I do need it. In about four weeks, I plan to take it with me down to Austin, where I'll be spending a week. For those moments at night when I'm not watching any television, there that radio will be, playing wonderful music or news or commercials.

What will go on for the remainder of tonight?? One of my favorite radio programs will commence in less than an hour, and I need to get my streamlining going (yes, I'll be listening to it on my computer via a radio station 350 miles away), so I'd better type fast and get it right the first time (or else, I'll just have to proofread over and edit this and that). That's just the way of a writer who's never written a novel, I guess. Maybe someday. Not now, of course. But the thought lingers on my mind like great coffee on the tongue. It can control the senses and thought patterns. This passion I have ---- or try to have ---- for writing can sometimes do funny things to you. When it all comes to my mind, it goes in the computer, oftentimes after I've submitted my copy. Hopefully, I'll be able to gather a few more musings, sometimes just lying down on my bed............as I watch as the elevated turbine known as the ceiling fan spins round and round. So, I take pause from the busyness of life, even if for just a few select moments. Such is part of the fabric of life, which is, itself, a blog subject waiting to happen.

I've got multiple fans going. It's close to 80 where I am. Tomorrow should be very pleasant, starting close to midnight, but it can't get here fast enough, imo.

I'm glad it is, shoe. The 13th is just 13 days away.
