I'm so glad Christmas is almost over!

The Wrapping, the Shopping, the Frantic Trips to the post office vying for a parking space or just trying to get in the damn post office driveway. I will be glad when this Christmas is over. Not feeling it this year. Some years I do, some I don't. If it was up to me I would be skipping Christmas this year. Misfit toys!? Sorry! You gotta wait 'till next year. Again!

"Just an fyi - I'm not a total scrooge. I would love if Christmas were just more about getting together with family and friends and having maybe a nice dinner and exchanging ONE well thought out gift. Instead of all the commercialism, and the 'you got me a gift now I gotta get you a gift, and how much did you spend so I can spend the same?!'. And in the end its all just crap we're giving each other. Most of it will be unused after two months, like the damn Aero-garden I gave my girlfriend last year. Super expensive. Super un-useful. Now it just sits there in a corner in the basement. Unloved"

SO I'm about to start wrapping my girlfriend LeighAnn's Xmas gifts. I've got all the wrapping paper and tape laid out. Thankfully, I did get everything done this year on time; Christmas cards in the mail, gifts purchased and waiting to be wrapped, gifts shipped, etc.

The only thing left now is to sit back and wrap and also this evening I have to run out and get some stocking stuffers. LeighAnn is going to pick up an Organic Turkey tonight, one that is around 8lbs for just the two of us for Saturday. We got invited to have dinner over at her friends, but they were eating at 2pm and are also vegetarians. And we don't see them often, so the conversation might be a little 'forced'. I told LeighAnn that I just wanted to take it easy and not have to rush out the door just after noon on like the one day a week this week I can actually sit back and relax. THUS, we are doing dinner for just us and joining up with her vegetarian friends later for a couple drinks. Perfect. Also, going to stop by the Whisky Bar downtown Seattle to meet up with friends for some additional holiday cheer. Nothing too crazy though, since I'm planning to ski Sunday again (at Stevens Pass) and need to be up early.

With us staying home till about 5pm or so this Saturday, I can squeeze in a few hours to patch some dry wall and touch up some paint on the homestead here. I'm trying not to lose focus on getting my house repaired and up to date in order to sell it this Spring and move away from Seattle, but there have been LOTS of distractions lately. Trying to stay the course.

Well that's it for now, Merry Christmas everyone!!

Yes, I know about it being tough on Christmas because of the 'commercialism' aspect of it, but, you two, just being a couple, it should be fairly easy this year

On thing I notice, if you belong to a "Church Family", then you will be involved with more than you can imagine!

Since CHRIST is the reason for the season, via celebrating HIS Birth, it would only add more 'body' to the reasoning if you could include HIM in some of your holiday routine...(That is, if your a believer, if not, then its just another day off for each of you, and thus, I hope you dont get too inbibing to not be safe on the highway).

I hope that some day, you and yours can come together and get close enough to express your emotions to everyone involved and sort out the ins-and-outs of this wonderful Holiday.

And thats my two cents worth

    I wish you well...

Thank you that was a very nice comment..! I actually was going to update this post or post something additional, because after re-reading all my ranting, I didn't mention anything about Jesus, and wanted to. Him after-all being the reason behind Christmas, as you say.

Although I'm not practicing, I grew up Catholic. Part of what turned me off right at the get-go this holiday season was this; My girlfriend around Thanksgiving was making some Advent calendars to give to her nephews, and went shopping at our local Target department store. In the entire store, she could not find one baby Jesus - not a photo, not a toy, nothing (tons of 'Christmas' stuff though) - to put in the Advent calendar. We talked about it and discussed how sad Christmas has become; meaning commercialized and away from the true meaning. Made me just want to turn off..!

Anyway, now that Christmas Eve is here, and we're done with most the prep work, we're both feeling it more. Merry Christmas to you..!
