Does it feel like X-mas to anyone??

You know, I got up this morning, like any other morning, and was tuning the AM radio, and just happen to come upon one of those oldies channels...and they were playing X-mas music...and then it just hit me..

'Hey, it's X-mas time'....

But aside from that, I just don't feel it anymore...probablly do to the way my life is configured....

And I'm one who use to really love X-mas and the whole Holiday things...When I was younger, and living in the NW...I always felt more vibrant during this time of the year, filled with anticipation and joy...

Fast forward to today......and those feelings of anticipation and joy towards and around X-mas, are just gone...

Now, if I do get any, they have to be artifiscally generated...

My question is what happened??

I think for one, in the past, I was around more people, inside of institutions like school, college, church, military, ect ect...and in such enviornments, you tend to feed off of each other...the joy kinda bounces around...

And in school, every Holiday (at least when I was a kid) was ushered in with decorations and posters and parades ect ect...

As a single working class adult, one who has been through much hard knox, over the years I've just gotten alienated from that type of stuff...to the point where I sound like Salvester Stallone in Rocky 1...where he utters these words to Adriane...

'To you it's Thanksgiving...to me it's just Thursday'

Years ago when I heard that line from the movie, I was like 'Yo Rocky, what are ya talken about...it's Thanksgiving dude, why aren't ya feelin it?'...

And now I know...
As an adult, if your not careful, and expecially if you don't have kids or family, you can really begin to seperate yourself, over time and unintentionally, from the things that really made life worth living in the past...

I mean it just happens...you don't plan for it to happen, it just does...you get seperated from mainstream...and instead get sucked downstream into the struggles of life...

And it depends on where you live...I live in a working class hood...and as such...hardly no X-mas decorations at all...so different from where I grew up...where I grew up it was like a competition to see who's house could look the prettiest...

But here in the SE hood areas...people don't seem to care about such things...instead it's the same old blarring of rap music out of car windows...
Poor poor kids...it's them I kinda feel sorry for...

The families, at least where I live, who do tend to have up X-mas decorations are the white working class...even the ones in the hood...they never seem to forget this time of the year and or the traditions...and their struggling right a long with their black neighbors...but they never seem to forget X-mas time...I think that's kinda neat actually...

For without them, these poor working class whites, there really would be no outward sign of X-mas in the hood...

But that's only a local observation...not sure how it is other places...
Maybe some hoods are filled with decorations...I don't know...and maybe some trailer parks aren't...again I don't know...I'm only commenting on what I see around here...

Anyhow...Merry X-mas everyone, before I forget to say so later, and get caught up in some hard knox real life stuff...

I guess like anything else, it has to start from within...be generated by ones own since of 'tidings'....

Not only that, but I'm in the South East now...Florida...and as such...X-mas without snow always just feels a bit odd...
(even as I type this someones blarring music from speakers...yuk)...oh well...Merry X-mas anyways..

Shhh...I think I hear Santa's Sleigh...

Seems that when you take CHRIST out of Christmas, it just loses the 'meaning' of it...

Its not X-Mas, its Christmas! Maybe thats why you dont have the 'feeling' for it anymore, you lost what the reason behind the tinsel and trees and decorations are trying to represent, but do a poor imitation.

    I wish you well...

Thanks Jesse, for the reply...but with me, that's not it...for I always remember 'Christ' whether it's X-mas or not....

I don't need the Holiday to remind me of Jesus the Savior...

With me, it's just more every day busy scheduale, the nature of past jobs, and the isolation it has brought me around the Holidays...

People are what make the Holidays wonderful...and I've been seperated from that for the past few years...

Believe it or not...I could get into the Holiday spirit whether around aithiest or Christians or Buhdists...
I just like being around people...I think they are the key...

    And again...thanks for dropping in...

Then if its only that, get with your friends and family so that your surrounded by those you love and care for...

Isolation is a bad thing, as it can lead to many detrimental ideas and down the path of destruction...

People 'need' people, whether they know it or not. You know it, but your not doing anything about it, so thats a bad thing for you, because you 'realize' the situation, you need to take corrective action to amend this, before you start self destructing, and leave those who love you so much, behind, wondering all the time...
What happened? Could we have done something different? Was it 'us'??

So many questions go unanswered if you go down the wrong path, so its time to grab your boot straps and amend this situation and start on the road to liberation

    I wish you well...

Your kinda reading to much into this....

It's written more as a general commentary on society as a whole, not nessicarily any one persons particular life...
And if people can relate...then they read, self examine, and ponder...no more, no less...

Not only that...but say if someone is stationed in Germany (military)...on a remote post...it's not always possible to be with friends or family...

There's many scenerios that could prevent that...

But again...you may just be reading to much into this...

    but that's ok....
