Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Thoughts On Black Friday, Old Man Winter, And Thinning Up
Even though there are those who wake up when many are going to bed just so they can take advantage of being the first shoppers to darken the entrance of a store, I didn't have to be one of them. I'll eventually get to that shopping mall or store long after I rise from bed, which was actually a bit of a challenge this morning, as that space heater on the floor really kept me in bed well after the alarm went off. It helps you sleep..............real hard.
I had my coffee, my shower, and my breakfast and then it was off to do what I needed to on another Black Friday. No, I didn't have to buy anything today; I have all season to do that. Just people-watch and browse. That's it. That's part of the fun of the day after Thanksgiving. And where better place to digest that turkey and everything else from the day before? Walk around a little, case. Just a little. Between now and Christmas, I will need to get started on a diet. I should eat salad instead of solid.
Maybe I should stock up on appetite suppressants. And, no, I'm not joking. There's also this thing called exercise in addition to those "other things". Sooner or later, I've got to make time for it so I can get to an appropriate point. In the meantime, some of what I might eat along the way would make for a boring entry in the Food forums.
Speaking of appropriate points, Old Man Winter was trying to breeze his way into North Texas while riding a white horse, except that there was no "white stuff". Temperatures had gone down and gone down hard. It just seems like the timing is just right for hard change. Can't we just put a warm front in front of the cold front??
I don't mind the cool breezes, but I'm actually ready for spring time once again.
Well, I guess we can get through Christmas and the New Year and gladly anticipate what will be, but then, that will be another blog. As it is, I'll have plenty to think about between now and, say, the start of MLB's spring training, itself just a mere two and a half months away. For now, that space heater is going to get me lots of Z's, far too many to count. This writer appreciates that.
