This is another subject I choose to comment here on...
I've read various comments left on the threads...and it's funny how people break the story down to which ever way fits their political leaning or slant...
Aithiest break it down there way, Dems break it down their way, Rep break it down their way, ect ect...
So now I'm going to break it down my way...
To me..it's a sexual orientation issue...and it goes to show that no matter how much one rails about God, if the impulse of same sex attraction is in you...it will always be there...the question becomes then, how do you manage it?
Some choose to ignore it, others choose to modify it, and others choose to whole heartedly embrace it...
It does bug me though how some lump this as a 'black church' issue...
As if 'whites' don't have leaders they follow...I mean how many showed up for Glenn Becks rally? How many loyal listeners call into Rush L show or Sean H or Michael Savages show or Mark Levins show?
It's not a color thing, it's a human nature thing or issue...
Those in the 'black' community are no more prone to follow a 'leader' than those in the 'white' community...
Jimmi Hoffa, Ronald Reagon, Strong Therman...people tend to be drawn to strong dynamic personalities regardless of what community their apart of...duh...
Anyways...for some reason I'm not in a fiery writing mood right now...I was earlier...but spent all my energy at work...
But I do wish the Bishop had been more honest and forth coming at his church on Sunday...Americans don't so much care if your gay or not...they just want you to be honest about it...
And that's the issue here is 'honesty' more so than sexuality...
I don't think this takes away from Christanity at all...God is still God, Jesus is still Jesus...and man is still man...same basic equation...
Jesus died for an imperfect world...Bishop Eddie Long being one of Trillions of the imperfect Jesus died for...
Eddie Long, my advice to you...just be honest about it...if you have or had same sex encounters...be honest...be honest and move on...honesty will set you free...
But a lie will keep you bound and captive...

I had no idea that people were making this a black church issue. But that is crazy because the Catholics been raping kids forever! White churches have had this going on forever!
However, my only issue is that the natives in Atlanta watch this man lead marches against gay marriage and talk against gays. So that is why this is such a big deal. He a gave other people the impression that he was against that lifestyle but then turned around and lived it. Yes some expressed or tried to confine the story as being 'Just another black leader in the community that black Dem blindly follow'...
Very untrue...mega churches are in every community...Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, And many more...so to me, color has nothing to do with it at all...
I haven't followed the saga for several days now...so not sure what his status is...or if he's going to preach this Sunday...
I don't think his sermons will have much weight anymore, until he gets this behind him...
And if he did indeed have same sex encounters, or finds or found certain other males attractive...he needs to admit it...confess...
Maybe some or many will leave because of that, but then again, maybe some or many will stay...and the ones that stay are probablly practicing the principles of Christ, more so than the ones who leave...
The thing about mega churches is their usually built around one mans dynamic personality or charisma...
The danger of that is, if the leader leaves or steps down...usually the church withers away...
Pastors like Eddie Long, have a rock star personality...and are kinda what hold the church together...

I don't like how stories like this fade from the headlines...
I tried doing some follow up research into the current state of his church, but found nothing..
I would like to know...
1. Has attendence at his church been effected long term?
2. And or are people 'ok' with him 'as is'?
In other words, there's two type of supporters...
Those who can conceed that Pastor Eddie Long may of actually had 'swings' with people of his same sex...or was 'hot', but are still able to forgive him and move on...
Then there's those who only stick by him, support him, cause in their minds he's 'totally innocent of all aligations'...
One thing I've learned though, and that is if you base your criteria on whether or not to support someone based on them being 'totally innocent or perfect'...than you only set yourself up for great disappointment down the road...
There is no one who is totally perfect, free of 'dirty thoughts', divine, prestine, except Jesus himself...
And to base friendship or support of others based on that standard is unrealistic...
