We have been looking for a house in the La Conner Wa area in Shelter Bay which is all on the reservation. I am a little nervous about buying on a reservation. It has a 50 yr lease but they can raise the lease cost every 10yrs. After the 50 yrs, if I still own or a family member and they choose not to renew, nothing we can do. I really like the area but..........? Has anyone ever bought on reservation property and if so what are you thoughts????

I live in the state of Washington and am paying 1100.00 in rent. To purchase a house, would be about 220,000. making my payments at about 2,000. to 2,300. I was thinking, about purchasing an acre for 77,000 and living in a 5th wheel and build a garage for equity and laundry (!) and then down the road as I get equity building a house or selling. We are very handy people so we could do alot of the work ourselves. Utilities and such. I just can't justify paying over 2,000 on a mortgage. OR do I stay renting and put the 800.00 or so into investments and if so what kind!!!!!!!! I would have to get a loan of about 100,000. to get a garage started. help-=any thoughts
